Teachers Off Duty

Welcome to Teachers Off Duty

Growing up I never really viewed my teachers as people who had lives outside of school. I just figured they come to school during the morning and then leave after all the students went home. Now that I'm older, I understand this to not be the case. Teachers have personal lives and identities that aren't attached to their role as educators. Our teachers and professors have hobbies, families, activities they do as a way to unwind after a long day, and maybe even other professions aside from teaching.

Teachers Off Duty is a podcast hosted by teachers of different grade levels who also have a social media following, most noticeable on TikTok. The hosts are Briana Richardson @honestteachervibes, Tell Williams @mrwilliamsprek, Lauren Woolley @mrs.woolleyin5th, and Rebecca Rogers @rrogersworld. These teachers have come together to share their stories and experiences as well as ones sent in by their fans about what goes on in the classroom. I've only recently started listening to this podcast for about a week and I'm already enjoying it. Something that I've found so interesting is that the listeners are able to hear what school and being a teacher is like from the perspective of teachers. Some of the topics they discuss include what teachers really do during spring break, if the portrayal of teachers in movies and tv show is accurate, weirdest things students have said and done, and what it's like teaching during a pandemic. These teachers offer different perspectives since they've taught at different grade levels and have being teaching for different amounts of time.

If you're a student that's ever been curious about what being a teacher is really like or if you're a teacher looking to hear relatable stories then Teachers Off Duty is perfect for you.

Teachers Off Duty is available on Spotify, Apple Podcast, and YouTube.
