Suburb Talks

Welcome Back to Another Segment of Suburb Talks

One of the things that's great about our society is being able to share information and experiences. A big part of how we learn and receive information is from the perspective of other people. Naturally, we think with age comes wisdom so we turn to our parents and other adults for advice, but sometimes it hard for them to relate to us. So, who can we look towards for advice on problems and topics that trouble us, the simple answer is our peers.

Suburb Talks is a podcast hosted by Nick Grajeda and various members of his friend group coined the Rancho Boyz, and yes there are girls as well. Suburb Talks, launched back in September of 2020, focuses on discussions that many teenagers and those in their twenties can relate to since the hosts are all in their early twenties. Many of their discussions revolve are topics such as red flags and icks in people, college life, and most of all relationships. One of the things that's great about this group is that since there are many members, they can swap people in and out each episode to give their own unique take on each topic. With the most recent episodes within the last two months, the podcast has kept the discussion between five to six people to keep a good balance for debates. Having both guys and girls on the podcast enables the viewers to listen to both sides of the argument, because both sexes can have completely different opinions on a question. One episode where this shown well is "Can you ever really stay friends with an ex after a breakup". In this episode, the guys argue that you can still be friends with an ex and still wish them a happy birthday or happy holidays while the girls disagree in that although you can be on good terms with an ex, you shouldn't wish them a happy birthday especially if your in a relationship. Some of the discussions do turn into debates at times, but it always stays in good fun. Suburb Talks podcast is really able to offer different opinions and views because some members haven't been in a real relationship, some have had only few, and others are currently in relationships. Something that should be noted is that this podcast is considered comedy and the hosts don't expect everyone to take their advice or agree with them because at the end of the day they're between the ages of twenty and twenty-one so they aren't qualified to know what's entirely right.

Suburb Talks releases new episodes every Saturday and is available on Spotify, Apple Podcast, and YouTube.

  1. Never would I have ever thought that there would be a podcast just about the daily thoughts that we all have as college students or young adults. I might have to add this my list of podcasts to listen to as after reading your review I definitely want to check out. I feel like we can all relate to this podcast as college students because everyone has definitely had the experience with their friends where they probably have the same arguments talked about in the show. I usually listen to sports podcasts or conspiracy theory podcasts so it will be interesting to try something new out.

I feel like podcasts are becoming more and more relatable.. idk if it's because we are getting older now but I'm super excited to check this one out!
