Teenager Have Problems Too
Teenager Therapy is a podcast started by a group of stressed out high school, now college students, who talk about the struggles that come with being a teenager in today's society. Starting with their first episode on September 24, 2018, Teenager Therapy is hosted by Gael Aitor, Thomas Pham, Kayla Suarez, Isaac Hurtado, and Mark Hugo. Some of the topics they discuss revolve around mental health, expectations from parents, how covid has affected the learning environment, and other things going on in their lives that listeners can find relatable. This podcast in particular is able to give a unique perspective on different topics due to the hosts being young people of color, first generation college students, and two of them being members of the LGBTQ community. This perspective is demonstrated in some of their episodes such as "Being a First Get Student", "Are Racial Preferences Acceptable", "Pronouns/Being Non-binary/LGBTQ Issues", and "Culture Appropriation vs Appreciation".
Another great topic that's brought up on Teenager Therapy is mental health. Gael, Thomas, Kayla, Issac, and Mark don't let vulnerability or fear of being judged stop them when discussing how their mental health has affected them. They discuss their fears and issues such as the fear of missing out, how seasonal depression is impacting their day to day life, anxiety, and feeling like you don't belong. The podcast is not only a safe space for the hosts, but also the audience and a series on the podcast for that is "Listen When You Feel Alone". This series, currently on episode eight at the time of writing this blog, allows the host to just speak openly about what ever topics they may be thinking of in that moment. This series also creates a space for the audience to listen whenever they need a distraction from any problems they may be facing at the time. With their four year anniversary being on September 24 of this year, Teenage Therapy is sure to continue offering a safe space for people to listen and be entertained by discussions that are relevant in current times.
Teenager Therapy is available Spotify, Apple Podcasts, YouTube, and Podbean.

This is so exciting! I love podcasts and can’t wait to see what else you’ll review. I might have to give the first-gen episode a listen since I’m a first-gen student, too. The “Listen When You Feel Alone” segment also sounds really neat. I’m definitely adding it to my list on Spotify!
ReplyDeleteI feel like I should listen to this so I can be a better parent.
